If you’re anything like me, Photoshop was soooo intimidating at first. I had heard about all the wonderful things it could do, sure, but I had no idea where to start. So I was using free online alternatives like Canva & PicMonkey to get the job done instead. Finally, I got hired to do some jobs that those free tools just couldn’t get done for me. I did weeks of research, tried to find a Photoshop alternative, but everything was way too confusing or just didn’t do what I needed – (we are talking basic needs like cropping and bending photos).
After many failed attempts, I checked out Photoshop. I was still under the impression that it would be a couple hundred dollars for the software and, at that point, I was ready to pull the switch. To my surprise, however, I noticed they had changed the pricing! Now, I could get Photoshop CC for just $10/month! Okay – now THAT I could do!
So, I downloaded Photoshop and opened up the program….then, reality sank in. I had no idea where to start or what to do. Like the go-getter I am, I immediately researched Google and YouTube for tutorials and started learning. Admittedly, I may have learned more than I really NEEDED to learn just starting out. I sort of overwhelmed myself the first few days.
I truly believe that buying Photoshop was one of the best decisions for my career. It greatly expanded my graphic design skills and the things I can now do are far greater than they were before! I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did the first few days, though. So, I’m listing out only the 5 tools that you NEED within your first days of using Photoshop. Start small, master these, and then grow your skill set!
